Infinite Scroll

Solution

Evidence

A list the the user could browse by the JTBD.

EVIDENCE

PROCESS

Success for this component was defined by:

The user would demonstrate a browsing behavior, measured by activity in screen recordings.

So I had to ask myself, How Might We improve the browsing experience?

Here are some of the avenues I explored:

  • Increase the number of items per screen, even for smaller devices
  • Increase the image sizes
  • Reduce text on the card
  • Create an affordance that the whole card is clickable

Adding all of them return a design that worked very well.

CHALLENGE

OUTCOME

So well that, it created an opportunity to integrate an AI recommendation engine, which was not on the Product Roadmap.

Knowing that ore scrolling was correlated with higher conversion ratio, this feature would be a win-win for the user and the business.

I was inspired by watching a documentary where Aza Raskin the creator of infinite scroll, talked about the addictiveness of the scrolling behavior.

From the evidence which action would you have chosen?
