PROCESS

  • The user's had become accustomed to the layout and the screens.
  • Previous changes to the UI had not been well received, this was considered the first "working" version.
  • The software the company previously used, had a layout that looked like a spreadsheet, this was considered an upgrade to that.

CHALLENGE

  • "Visually we know it needs some work!"
  • "This is a complex program with a lot of functionality, the last 6 months have been spent on making this work like it is today."
  • "If it isn't broken it doesn't need fixing"

OUTCOME

One of the very first things that came to mind when I saw this screen in the app was the "Three Mile Island Accident".

I found this screen to be overwhelming, as this was the main screen the users looked at all day long. To add to that, on average there were 50 cards in a column, this meant a lot of scrolling for the user and overall an opportunity for better user experience.
